Summing it up
Reporting to the Director of Finance, the Accountant is responsible for supporting the day-to-day financial operations across all companies within the organization. This includes maintaining accurate records, assisting with month-end processes, and ensuring consistency and compliance in financial practices across multiple entities. The role is ideal for someone with a solid foundation in accounting who is eager to grow within a collaborative and dynamic environment
What you'll be doing
Transactional accounting
- Process accounts payable and receivable, including invoice entry, payments and collections.
- Prepare and post journal entries for daily and recurring transactions.
- Reconcile bank accounts and monitor cash balances.
- Assist with payroll related journal entries and reconciliations.
Month end Close & Reporting
- Support month end close activities, including accruals, reconciliations and intercompany entries.
- Assist in preparing internal financial reports and variance analysis.
- Investigate and resolve discrepancies in financial records.
Operational Support
- Collaborate with departments to ensure accurate financial data.
- Support the administration of rental and tenant agreements.
- Help maintain compliance with accounting policies and regulatory requirements.
Other duties
- Assist with internal and external audits by preparing supporting documentation.
- Participate in system upgrades and process improvements.
- Support ad hoc financial projects and reporting requests.
Who you are
- Experience in property management, hospitality, or strata-titled environments is an asset.
- 2-3 years' of experience in accounting or bookkeeping.
- Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
- Familiar with accounting software such as Oracle NetSuite.
- Proficient with Microsoft 365 Suite.
- Familiarity with HRIS system and Property Management Systems considered an asset.
