Job Description

Job Title: Cardiac Cath Lab RN Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Cardiac Cath Lab Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Variable start (0600-1630 or 0700-1730), 10-hour shifts call Hours per Shift: 10 hours Experience: Minimum of 2 years License: RN License required Certifications: BLS, ACLS Must-Have: Experience with sedation and Phase 1 recovery; ICU or PACU experience preferred; EPIC experience preferred Description: The unit consists of two suites used for cardiac catheterization and one suite for vascular procedures. The average number of cases per day is 22, which includes both cardiac catheterization and electrophysiology cases. The caseload may start with 15 and include up to 15 add-on cases. Common diagnoses and types of patients include right and left heart catheterizations with or without interventions, as well as structural heart and vascular cases such as TAVR and mitral clip. Knowledge of IABP and Impella insertion is required. Registered Nurses and technicians will both play crucial roles in this environment. Circulating, prep, and recovery experience is strongly preferred for RNs. Registered Nurses must have cardiac procedural experience and the ability to circulate, sedate, monitor, and document. Technologists are expected to scrub and document, requiring procedural experience and the ability to scrub, monitor, and document as well. Preferred experience includes sedation and Phase 1 recovery, with ICU or PACU experience as a plus. Technologists must also have experience in both cardiac catheterization and electrophysiology. The equipment used includes EPIC, MacLab, and GE Imaging. Registered Nurses will be expected to be on call when not in-house, with call requirements averaging 8 days a month. Weekend coverage includes one weekend every four weeks, Fridays through Sundays. Holidays are covered by call time requirements. The mandatory call response time is 30 minutes and may require floating to the EP lab as all suites are part of a combined unit. A team-oriented approach is emphasized, and additional inquiries may focus on experiences with prep and recovery. Registered Nurses may work past normal end times to complete all cases. Knowledge of EPIC and GE imaging equipment is beneficial. Cancellation policies allow for shifts to be canceled as per specified guidelines.
