Job Description

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Medical-Surgical/Telemetry Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12-hour Night Shift Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: Minimum of 18 months of Med/Tele experience preferred License: Valid Registered Nurse license Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: General Med/Tele skillset, including stroke experience, cardiac rhythm interpretation, and tube management Description: The position is for a Registered Nurse in the Medical-Surgical/Telemetry specialty. The role involves providing care for patients with conditions such as stroke, COPD, chest pain, altered mental status, and GI bleeds. Patient ratios are typically 1 RN to 5 patients. The nurse will be responsible for performing NIH assessments, managing chest tubes, starting peripheral IVs, trach care, and performing cardiac medication management. Additional duties include managing drain and tube placements, PCA pump management, and administering blood products and IV fluids. Support within the department includes the presence of CNAs who can assist with certified tasks such as inserting Foley catheters and removing IVs for discharge. Receptionist support is available during the day shift. Telemetry monitoring and tech support are provided 24/7. Nurses may be required to float to other facilities within their scope of practice as needed. The unit culture emphasizes a positive and team-driven environment. Weekend rotation is required, with travelers expected to work 75% of holidays. The schedule cycle follows a six-week rotation. The scrub color for this position is navy blue.
