Job Description Job Description Network Technician Job Description: This position is responsible for providing support in the operation of a data communications network by installing, troubleshooting, and maintaining computer hardware, software, and data communications equipment. Duties: Installing equipment for data communications and telephony network according to job order specifications, standards, and procedures. Diagnose/troubleshoot equipment and cabling that may be causing system malfunctions. Maintains and repairs telecommunications equipment and cabling according to manufacturer recommendations and industry standards and specifications Provides support for the users of the data communications and telephony network Inspect LAN infrastructure and fix minor or major problems/bugs Provide technical direction to co-workers on computer and network usage Requirements and Skills: Proven experience as a network technician or relevant position Demonstrated knowledge of computing systems, electronics, and software Working knowledge of LAN/WAN networks, TCP/IP protocols and network technologies Specific knowledge of features and use of Cisco network equipment and software including Wireless Access Points Outstanding diagnostic, problem-solving, and analytical skills Proven ability to plan and meet deadlines Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to interact with all levels of staff Desired Qualifications: Hands on experience with Cisco equipment Cisco Networking Certifications Applicants will need to demonstrate the proper technique to install networking equipment and will be required to perform some configuration of Cisco switches. Work hours will also include nights and weekends as required, in addition to normal M-F workday. There will also be a rotational On-Call schedule.
