Adjunct Faculty for Gerontology/Aging Studies

Position Summary*Job Description: * The Department of Health Professions is seeking to hire a qualified adjunct faculty candidate to teach one or more classes in the Gerontology minor. Adjunct faculty are expected to instruct students in a classroom setting, providing support and guidance, and evaluating the completion of learning outcomes. * * *Outcome: * Teach Gerontology courses such as GER 330 Death, Dying and Bereavement, etc. Essential Functions* Plan educational sessions (lectures, experiential learning, in-class assignments, etc.) for each week based on course objectives * Design assessments (quizzes, exams, projects, papers, etc.) to measure student learning based on course objectives * Attends class weekly, adhering to the college calendar for the semester * Evaluates and provides feedback to students in a timely manner * Keeps the department chair informed of all issues and concerns. * Meets deadlines for submitting grades and other required documentation for the course/program/department Experience and Education Required* Master’s degree required * Prior teaching experience at the college level is preferred * Expertise and experience working with older adults is required Required Skills and QualificationsQualifications include the ability to communicate with students. Must also be able to apply supervisory skills, motivate students, be personable and professional, have patience with and understanding of students, and be able to learn and apply new concepts and ideas.
