US Group Controller

Job Description
The US Group Controller is responsible for ensuring the management of the US finance team, and the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting for the U.S. operations within the company. This position is responsible for preparing, reporting and analyzing financial statements, supporting the month-end and year-end close processes, and ensuring compliance with both internal policies and external regulations. Position reports to US Group CFO.
Responsibilities:
- Financial Management: Oversee the preparation and accuracy of financial statements, ensuring compliance with GAAP and corporate policies.
- Budgeting and Forecasting: Develop and manage the annual budget and financial forecasts, providing insights into financial performance and strategic planning.
- Reporting: Prepare and present financial reports to senior management, highlight key performance indicators and financial trends to inform decision-making.
- Internal Controls: Implement and maintain effective internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure the integrity of financial reporting.
- Team Leadership: Manager and mentor, the finance and accounting team, fostering a collaborative environment and ensuring professional development.
- Compliance: Ensure compliance with tax regulations, financial reporting standards, and other legal requirements, coordinating with external auditors as necessary.
- Partnership: Partner with functional leaders to educate, coach and aid in supporting their understanding of the financial results of the business
Job tasks include and are not limited to:
Financial Duties
- Ensure financials are prepared and submitted on time and accurately
- Review, summary and report monthly financials vs plan and prior year
- Review and approve critical journal entries as needed
- Develop accurate and timely I/C entry and reporting process for the group w proper monthly reconciliation and cash settlement.
- Reconcile all balance sheet accounts.
- Ensure payroll and all accrual accounting is accurate and timely
Inventory
- Partner with Operations on Cycle counting and year end physical counts
- Work with operation to clear any inventory issues
Banking
- Own banking relationship and delegate and approve transactions as needed
Analysis
- Review all GLs for appropriateness
Tax
- Own sales and use tax reporting
- Assist with business tax filing
- Tax research as required and delegated by CLA
Education/Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field – required
- CPA / Master’s degree preferred, but not required
- Minimum 5+ years of experience in senior accounting and management roles with multi-company reporting structure
- Management of remote employee experience
- Strong financial acumen and understanding of accounting principles
- Proficiency in accounting software, Microsoft excel and ERP systems
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Must be legally authorized to work in the US without sponsorship due to nature of work
- Excellent communication skills and attention to detail
