Maintenance Technician- Mount Vernon

Position Summary

We are seeking a skilled and reliable Maintenance Technician to perform routine maintenance and repairs on facility equipment, systems, and infrastructure. This hands-on position plays a critical role in supporting daily operations by ensuring machinery and facility systems are safe, functional, and well-maintained. The Maintenance Technician will work under the direction of the Maintenance Supervisor and will not have supervisory responsibilities.

Essential Functions

1. Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on machinery, equipment, and building systems.

2. Assist in the maintenance of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, boilers, steam lines, and other facility systems.

3. Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues and make timely repairs.

4. Maintain accurate records of maintenance work and equipment history.

5. Follow maintenance schedules as directed by leadership.

6. Ensure proper use and care of tools and equipment.

7. Maintain a clean and organized work environment.

8. Comply with all safety procedures and regulations, including proper use of PPE.

9. Assist with coordinating work with external contractors as assigned.

10. Support production and operational teams with timely maintenance support.

11. Other duties as assigned.

1. Mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills

2. Basic computer literacy (email, maintenance logs, etc.)

3. Ability to read equipment manuals and work orders

4. Strong attention to detail and problem-solving ability

5. Good written and verbal communication skills

6. Ability to follow instructions and work independently or as part of a team

Work Environment

This position works both indoors and outdoors in various conditions. The employee may be exposed to:

• Fumes, dust, and airborne particles

• Moving mechanical parts

• Inclement weather (rain, heat, humidity, cold)

• Loud noise levels

• Hazardous materials (with required PPE)

Physical Demands

• Regularly required to stand, walk, climb, kneel, crouch, and use hands

• Must be able to lift and move up to 60 pounds regularly

• Must be able to work at heights or in confined spaces as needed

• Visual acuity for close, distance, and color vision required

Work Schedule

• Monday through Friday, 6:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

• Occasional overtime or weekend work may be required based on business needs

Travel

• No regular travel is expected

• When visiting certain areas of the facility, use of PPE such as gloves, safety glasses, hard hats, vests, and steel toe boots is required

Required Education and Experience

• High School Diploma or equivalent

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills

• Ability to operate basic tools and follow technical instructions

Preferred Qualifications

• Technical certifications or training in equipment repair/maintenance

• 2–3 years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing or industrial setting

• Familiarity with ERP or maintenance management software
