Job Description
Job Summary: This position is responsible for the daily operation of a concrete batch plant. The position is responsible for the operation, maintenance, and record-keeping of the concrete batch plant. In addition to operating the plant, the employee will assist with the coordination of daily plant activities such as scheduling truck drivers, yard attendants, and ordering plant materials. Operates a concrete plant to batch materials used in highway and bridge construction. Manage controls to heat, weigh, and mix aggregate, cement, and water to produce concrete that conforms to processing specifications. May require the ability to repair machinery, using hand tools, power tools, and welding equipment.

Education/Experience:
A high school diploma or GED is desired.
Candidate must have a minimum of 3 to 5 years of concrete batching experience in concrete ready mix.
Computer Skills:
Must possess basic computer skills with Microsoft Windows and the MS Office package (particularly Excel and Word). Experience with MPAQ is a bonus.
Language Skills:
Must be able to communicate with and respond to questions from a wide range of people—executives, management, employees, customers, vendors, etc. This position requires the ability to read, write, and understand English.

Description of Responsibilities:
Job Duties
- Oversee all plant operations; coordinate and monitor daily work load throughout the plant; monitor plant cleanliness; oversee all maintenance of the concrete batch plant.
- Ensure that all products meet 100% total quality requirements; take samples and test as necessary; ensure all equipment is working properly; complete all required reports timely and accurately; inform proper personnel of any quality problems that need resolving.
- Positively supervises and motivates drivers and/ or yard personnel. Evaluates and mentors job performances, strengthens employee morale to maximize personnel skills and to optimize quality and quantity of production.
- Ensure all vehicles and equipment continually remain in safe and efficient operating condition; monitor all preventative and regular maintenance on vehicles and equipment.
- Records daily usages and current inventories of materials and ensures we do not run short of supply of cement, sand, rock, fly ash, calcium, admixture, etc. Ensures deliveries are placed in the proper storage areas and clearly labeled. Maintains daily, weekly and monthly inventories for future referencing.
- Responsible for batching the ready mix concrete properly, utilizing the proper mix design and ensuring the product is loaded properly.
- Ensure daily production reports are completed; maintain inventory and record daily usage of materials; check delivery tickets for accuracy; monitors all aspects of COD policy including reports, verification and submitting COD funds.
- Keeps and maintains all files and paperwork, including but not limited to: batch sheets, order cards, driver disciplinary and attendance files, fuel reports, etc.
- Responsible for monitoring and maintaining various reports for environmental purposes, including but not limited to: pit logs, bag house inspections, storm water run-off logs.
- All other duties as assigned by Plant Manager.
- Thorough knowledge of all aspects of concrete batching technology, equipment, methods and safety is required.
- Working computer knowledge; including applicable Microsoft software.
- Candidate must have excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Must be able to handle multiple task in a fast paced environment.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
