Job Description
Introduction Compensation plans are based on a multi-step progression system. The pay range reflects the entry level and maximum salary potential in the assigned pay grade.\nA starting salary may be negotiated and will be commensurate with education, training and experience in alignment with pay administration policies and Montgomery Personnel Board Rules & Regulations\n Nature of Work This\nis semi-skilled plumbing work including assisting in installing, repairing and\nmaintaining water, irrigation and waste systems in and on various City-owned or\nleased properties. Employees in this\nclass perform a variety of tasks requiring a practical knowledge of the\nplumbing trade. Assignments are made by\nwritten or oral instructions. More\ndifficult work is performed under supervision, but employees may work\nindependently on more routine maintenance and repair tasks. The work responsibilities\nof this position are: troubleshooting and repairing plumbing or irrigation\nfixtures; assisting in installing new plumbing or irrigation in new\nconstruction and renovation projects; replacing/installing new plumbing or\nirrigation fixtures; assisting in maintaining city fountains, swimming pools\nand irrigation systems. Work is\ninspected in process and upon completion for workmanship and satisfactory\noperation of systems. Supervision is\nreceived from a Plumber II or III. Employee reports to Mechanical Trades\nSupervisor or District Parks Maintenance Supervisor.\n Minimum Qualifications High\nschool diploma or G.E.D., and one (1) year experience assisting in installing,\nmaintaining and repairing plumbing or irrigation systems.\nNOTE:\nQualifying education, training and experience that provide the requisite\nknowledge, skills and abilities to perform the job will be considered.\n Special Requirements Ability\nto obtain and maintain a valid Alabama\ndriver's license. Ability to be on-call\n24 hours for emergencies and/or special events. \n Kind of Examination Applications are being accepted to fill one (1) vacancy and any vacancies that may occur during the life of the register.
