The Quality Assurance Supervisor plans and directs the daily shop floor quality activities related to inspections, non-conformances, process changes/improvements, and tests; Supervises hourly inspection personnel to support manufacturing schedules, including coverage of both Production and Receiving Inspection needs; Supports the Quality Engineers with shop floor investigations of customer complaints and internal quality issues.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: The essential duties and responsibilities of this job are included but not limited to this job description – other tasks may be assigned and expected to be performed.

  • Provides schedules and work directions to Inspection personnel to ensure coverage of daily responsibilities.
  • Maintains accuracy and schedules related to QA support functions, including Calibration of Gages and Equipment, including Test machinery.
  • Understand inventory transactions and able to move material appropriately with a forklift to keep material inventory accurate.
  • Understand inventory cycle counting processes and can utilize it to keep inventory accurate.
  • Perform audits to reduce nonconformances and eliminate sorting/rework. Coordinates resources required to address quality concerns. Works closely with Quality Engineers to accomplish a reduction of quality concerns and nonconformances.
  • Working knowledge of Gage R&R and calibration.
  • Works directly with manufacturing supervisors to ensure process compliance.
  • Create and monitor daily efficient flow of material through the department by utilization of manpower and equipment in the department.
  • Determine and implement continuous improvement plans for the equipment, and overall department.
  • Foster working relationships with associated departments, i.e. Planning, Engineering and Production.
  • Establish and maintain effective communication vehicles such as toolbox meetings and employee meetings.
  • Understands, communicates, and follows all company policies and work rules.
  • Effectively utilizes this knowledge to: analyze and resolve quality problems, or assists workers in solving quality problems; supervise and lead the hourly QA team; confer with Group Leader(s) and employees to coordinate quality activities of individual departments; and ensure department inventory (tools, gauges, equipment) is accurate.
  • Other tasks/functions as assigned.

Requirements:
  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Demonstrable knowledge and experience in Lean Manufacturing, Project Management and ISO 9001/ IATF16949 procedures is required.
  • This is a working supervisor position; some weekend and off shift work required based on business need.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office
  • QAD experience preferred
  • Up to 10% travel may be required.
