Description: Positions Location: Lansing, MI Job Description General Purpose of Job: Supervises work activities of all Caregivers in Sterile Process (CSS) Department. Responsible for department function and staff activites in the absence of the Department Manager Essential Duties: This job description is intended to cover the minimum essential duties assigned on a regular basis. Caregivers may be asked to perform additional duties as assigned by their leader. Leadership has the right to alter or modify the duties of the position. * Provide direction,training, and continual guidance to supervisory staff and Caregivers. * Responsible to see that work assignments are carried out within established guidelines. * Monitors daily individual performance and resource utilization and is accountable for the results. * Maintains an atmosphere that supports and encourages high performance, teamwork, and continual improvement of all associates. * Monitors customer ssatisfaction and initiates corrective actions. * Assists in development of departmental budget and goals. * Assists Caregivers with duties as needed. * Intiate and lead department with quality assurance, and process improvement Job Requirements General Requirements Required Responsibilities of the Caregiver: • Demonstrates knowledge and maintains and respects patient right to privacy by following the HIPAA Privacy and Security policies and procedures. • Adheres to ICARE values and standards of behavior (Innovation, Compassion, Accountability, Respect, Excellence). • Role model behaviors that value the diversity of our caregivers, patients and customers and supports creating an environment that is inclusive, welcoming and respectful. • Adheres to established best practices (i.e. Rounding, Thank You Notes, AIDET, etc.). • Demonstrates commitment to safety by establishing an environment in which safety issues are promptly reported and appropriate actions are taken. • Adheres to policies and procedures designed to avoid, prevent and reduce the spread of communicable diseases. Work Experience High school diploma/GED AND a minimum of 6 years of experience in Sterile Processing OR Associates degree in Business or related field AND a minimum of 4 years of experience in Sterile Processing or as a Surgical Tech OR Bachelors in Business, Materials Management or other related area AND a minimum of 2 years of experience in Sterile Processing or as a Surgical Tech Education Education: • High school diploma/GED AND a minimum of 6 years of experience in Sterile Processing OR Associates degree in Business or related field AND a minimum of 4 years of experience in Sterile Processing or as a Surgical Tech OR Bachelors in Business, Materials Management or other related area AND a minimum of 2 years of experience in Sterile Processing or as a Surgical Tech License / Certification: • SPD Certification required within 18 months of hire by the Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution, Inc. or International Association of Healthcare Central Service Material Management. Specialized Knowledge and Skills Skills & Abilities: • Strong oral and written communication skills, • Demonstrates ability to use a keyboard as may be required to perform the essential duties of the job.
