What You’ll do (the role) This role will play a key part in supporting participation in the power markets to enable the delivery of Lightsource bp’s development activity in Europe. Collaborating with the wider Power Marketing Team and Development origination activity to support the commercial goals and objectives, including pipeline development, auction participation, route to market contracting, and understanding regulatory and practical aspects of dispatching power in the market. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Track future developments regarding wholesale market regulation, ancillary services, design, and metering. Run RfPs for Route to Market contracts of the off-take for renewable and BESS projects, including uncontracted environmental attributes to minimise basis risk to virtual PPAs or CFDs. Support pricing and contractual terms of potential deal structures for our renewable and BESS pipeline. Interact with utilities to track developments in the PPA market and innovative solutions for power marketing to support the development of Lightsource bp’s RES pipeline. Understand metering, data flows, and other key aspects of dispatching and scheduling power; develop processes to support our activities in the market with relevant teams. Assist with the accreditation process for securing environmental attributes for projects. Support structuring and negotiation of corporate and utility PPAs and other power sales activities. Follow and understand RES auctions; support bidding strategy development and engagement in contracts. Monitor and ensure all obligations, conditions precedent, and commercial operations requirements are met from execution to operation to ensure successful offtake arrangements, including ancillary agreements. Manage handover of PPA documentation to support the transition of responsibility to Asset Management. Build a pipeline of Corporate PPA opportunities with key renewables energy buyers in Europe, working with the team including the Head of Strategic Partnerships. Identify and respond to tenders for renewable energy from corporate offtakers. Who we’re looking for Knowledge and Experience Mandatory/Required 3-5 years of industry experience, with strong stakeholder and market engagement skills. Strong understanding of drivers in European power markets. Good knowledge of the Italian electricity market and European energy policies and regulations related to renewables, BESS, and PPAs. Familiarity with power purchase agreements and energy sales structures. Experience with RES auctions, environmental attributes, embedded benefits, capacity markets, tollings, and other relevant value sources for renewables or storage projects. Proficient in MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Experience negotiating PPAs with utility off-takers. Preferred Understanding metering and connection protocols for solar PV, focusing on interfacing with route to market and dispatch activities. Strong project and process management skills, with experience managing multiple teams. Understanding of energy price risk management and hedging approaches. Proven track record in deal structuring, negotiation, and execution with a commercial approach. Personal Qualities Good interpersonal, leadership, and collaboration skills. Strong project and process management skills. Highly self-motivated and organized, with the ability to meet transaction deadlines. Excellent communication skills in English and preferably other European languages. Willingness and ability to travel within Europe as required.
