Job Description
Minimum requirements for the role: Must have a Degree or Diploma in Agriculture (e.g., Agronomy, Soil Science, or related field) Minimum 2 years experience in sales within the agricultural sector, preferably in fertilizers or related products Strong technical knowledge of fertilizers and crop nutrition is essential Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills Ability to analyse soil and crop data to provide tailored recommendations Proficiency in inventory management and budgeting Self-motivated, results-driven, and able to work independently Knowledge of sustainable farming practices and environmental regulations Must have a valid driver's license and own reliable transport as well as be willing to travel extensively within KwaZulu-Natal to meet clients and conduct farm visits The successful candidate will be responsible for: Promoting fertilizer products to farmers and agribusinesses, targeting crops like table grapes, citrus, dates, and lucerne to meet revenue goals. Developing campaigns, attending trade shows, and conducting farm demos to boost brand awareness and educate clients. Securing sales agreements with competitive pricing and terms, ensuring client satisfaction and company profitability. Tracking fertilizer stock levels to ensure availability and avoid shortages or overstock during peak seasons. Coordinating timely delivery of fertilizers to clients, aligning with crop planting schedules. Conducting regular inventory checks to maintain accuracy and comply with safety regulations. Visiting farms to assess soil and crop health, offering tailored fertilizer application advice. Resolving client problems such as nutrient imbalances or application errors with technical expertise. Educating farmers on proper fertilizer use, application methods, and safety protocols. Identifying and engaging potential clients through networking, referrals, and cold outreach. Advising on fertilizer plans specific to table grapes, citrus, dates, and lucerne based on soil and crop needs. Running field trials to test fertilizer performance, collecting data to showcase benefits to clients. Planning sales, marketing, and trial budgets, optimizing resources to meet financial goals. Collaborating on new fertilizer products or customized solutions to address client challenges. Creating solutions that align with environmental regulations and support sustainable farming practices.
