Site Reliability Engineer

A dynamic fintech company based in Johannesburg is seeking a skilled Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) to join their onsite team. Our client is committed to simplifying and securing financial and technological solutions for African communities, operating across insurance, telecommunications, and digital payments. This is a hands-on opportunity to own the uptime, performance, and scalability of critical production and development systems, shaping the infrastructure that supports over 50,000 users and a rapidly growing business. Requirements: · Tertiary qualification in Computer Science, IT, or related field. · Minimum 3 years experience in system administration, DevOps, or Site Reliability Engineering. · Strong problem-solving, troubleshooting, and communication skills. · Experience managing Linux-based production environments, preferably Ubuntu. · Proficiency with cloud hosting platforms such as AWS or Google Cloud. · Experience with containerization (Docker) and orchestration tools. · Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure as code tools (Terraform, Ansible). · Knowledge of PostgreSQL and database administration best practices. · Experience securing web infrastructure and managing access controls. · Knowledge of logging, monitoring, and observability tools (Grafana, Prometheus, cloud-native). · Understanding of networking, DNS, load balancing, and secure deployment practices. Nice to Have: · Experience with Odoo ERP hosting and maintenance workflows. · Knowledge of API-driven platforms and ERP systems. · Scripting and automation skills using Bash, Python, or similar. · Expertise in fast recovery planning, backup, and disaster mitigation.
