Senior Bookkeeper - Cape Town

An engineering company based in Cape Town operating in thewater & wastewater industry is recruiting a Senior Bookkeeper. This is a permanent position that will be based at the central office in Kraaifontein Industria. Department: Finance Reporting to: Finance Manager Direct Reports: Office Manageress & Creditors Clerk Discipline: Accounting Job Level: Middle Management Area: On-site Duties and Responsibilities: Recording financial transactions Update and maintain financial records Ensure that records are accurate and comply with legal requirements. Ensuring the monthly payroll is processed accurately & timeously. Minimum Requirements: Education and Experience: Diploma in Accounting, Finance or related field 5 years' experience in a similar position Proficient with SAGE accounting & payroll software MS Office (word, excel and outlook) Ability to communicate across all levels of the organisations Attention to detail Strong knowledge of accounting principles, standards and regulatory requirements Knowledge and Skills: Finance: Maintain accurate trail balance including accounts payable, accounts receivable and general ledgers Processing of invoices, journal entries, ledger transactions and bank reconciliations Review transaction allocations to ensure correct allocation and VAT treatment Perform account reconciliation Resolve account queries Manage and maintain the fixed asset register Assist with financial audits, projects and related activities as required Payroll: Process monthly payroll for approximately 70 employees Compiling payroll reports Ensure payroll information is submitted by relevant due dates Compiling yearly pay date calendar Staff Management: Training and coaching staff members Approve time off leave request Support employees to achieve departmental objectives Salary: Market related All applicants to please include salary expectation when applying
