Job Description

Purpose of the Role The Shift Supervisor will be responsible for overseeing and managing the operations and resources of the shift to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality output. The successful candidate will drive performance, maintain compliance, and support continuous improvement across warehouse functions. Minimum Requirements Educational Qualifications: Certificate in Warehousing, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field (NQF Level 5) Experience: Up to 3 years of experience in logistics, warehousing, or supply chain environments Hands-on knowledge of warehouse operations Familiarity with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) Key Responsibilities Operational Management: Oversee receiving and ensure accurate SAP capturing Conduct daily quality, voltage, and cleanliness checks Execute daily cycle counts and assist with monthly stocktakes Process damaged stock and manage labeling accuracy Manage stock movements, dispatch, and returns Coordinate collections and deliveries (local, SDA, and exports) Plan daily workloads, shift rotations, and maintain workflow efficiency Ensure smooth handovers between shifts Identify process improvements and drive operational excellence People Leadership: Supervise, train, and support warehouse staff Manage attendance, leave planning, and payroll submissions Address performance concerns and provide coaching Promote team development and ongoing skills training Handle employee relations and resolve conflicts Compliance & Safety: Ensure adherence to all health, safety, and operational protocols Maintain FIFO and low-voltage stock processes Conduct safety inspections and promote awareness Manage housekeeping standards and safe equipment usage Report and investigate incidents or near misses Reporting & Administration: Review and sign off dispatch documents and reports Maintain shift records and update performance KPIs Submit reports on staff attendance, productivity, and incidents Coordinate maintenance needs and equipment servicing Essential Knowledge & Skills Proficiency in MS Office, SAP, ERP, and warehouse software Solid understanding of warehousing and logistics best practices Strong leadership and organizational capabilities Ideal Candidate Attributes Effective communicator (verbal and written) Detail-oriented with a goal-driven mindset Resilient and able to manage pressure Confident decision-maker with a team-first attitude Strong coaching and mentoring skills High integrity and commitment to quality and safety
