Job Description
Key Responsibilities: Manage, direct, and supervise a team of skilled metal workers, including welders and boilermakers. Ensure a high level of proficiency and compliance with welding standards through training, regular assessments, and adherence to established procedures. Familiarity with relevant South African welding standards such as SANS 10225, SANS 10044 and ISO 15614-1:2017 is essential. Oversee structural and mechanical steel fabrication, ensuring high-quality output according to specifications and safety standards. Plan, coordinate, and monitor daily workshop activities to meet production deadlines. Maintain adherence to all safety regulations and quality assurance standards. Train, mentor, and develop team members. Ensure optimal use of materials, equipment, and resources to improve efficiency and reduce waste. Inspect completed work to ensure accuracy and compliance with project specifications. Liaise effectively with management, draughtsmen and engineers. Organize workflow, schedule maintenance, and manage equipment repairs and servicing. Review engineering drawings, plans, and specifications to effectively delegate tasks. Manage procurement processes, ensuring timely ordering and availability of materials. Conduct regular toolbox meetings and enforce adherence to safety protocols. Resolve technical and operational issues promptly and effectively. Monitor productivity and quality to identify and implement process improvements. Document and report progress, issues, and successes clearly to management. Participate in recruitment and performance evaluations of team members. Qualifications and Requirements: Professional qualification as a Boilermaker or equivalent Red Seal accreditation. Minimum of 10-15 years proven experience working in a boiler shop or similar metal fabrication environment. Proven leadership experience as a Workshop Foreman, Supervisor, or equivalent role in metal fabrication. Advanced knowledge and experience in structural steel and mechanical fabrication. Demonstrated expertise in welding, structural assembly, and quality control procedures. Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills. Familiarity with industry-standard fabrication methods, tools, machinery, and safety practices. Ability and willingness to relocate to Klerksdorp. Strong technical and practical skills in interpreting engineering drawings and specifications. Knowledge of the mineral processing industry will be a distinct advantage.
