Quality Assurance Lead - Automation Testing

Title : Quality Assurance Automation Lead Location : Pune, India Years of Experience : 710 yrs Job Type : Full-time Responsibilities : - Define and drive the overall QA automation strategy, roadmap, and vision for the organization or specific projects. - Lead and mentor a team of QA automation engineers, providing technical guidance, coaching, and performance feedback. - Design, develop, and maintain robust and scalable automation frameworks using industry best practices and appropriate tools. - Oversee the development and execution of automated test scripts for various application layers (UI, API, database, etc.). - Collaborate closely with development, product, and manual QA teams to understand requirements, identify automation opportunities, and ensure comprehensive test coverage. - Integrate automated tests into the CI/CD pipeline to enable continuous testing and faster feedback loops. - Establish and maintain automation standards, guidelines, and coding conventions for the team. - Evaluate and recommend new automation tools and technologies to improve efficiency and effectiveness. - Analyze test results, identify trends, and provide insightful reports to stakeholders on the quality of the software. - Drive the adoption of test-driven development (TDD) or behavior-driven development (BDD) practices within the team. - Participate in test planning, estimation, and risk assessment activities. - Ensure that automation efforts align with project timelines and quality objectives. - Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues related to automation frameworks and test scripts. - Stay up-to-date with the latest trends and advancements in QA automation and testing methodologies. - Champion quality throughout the software development lifecycle. - Contribute to the creation and maintenance of automation-related documentation. Technical Skills : - Automation Tools : Extensive hands-on experience (5 years) with leading test automation tools such as Selenium (with Java, Python, or C#), Cypress, Playwright, Appium, or similar. - Programming Languages : Strong proficiency in at least one object-oriented programming language such as Java, Python, C#, or JavaScript. - Test Frameworks : Deep understanding and practical experience with various test automation frameworks (e.g., JUnit, TestNG, PyTest, Mocha, Jasmine). - API Testing : Proven experience in automating API testing using tools like RestAssured, Postman, or SoapUI. - CI/CD Integration : Experience integrating automated tests into Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) pipelines using tools like Jenkins, GitLab CI, Azure DevOps, or similar. - Version Control : Proficient in using version control systems such as Git. - Test Management Tools : Familiarity with test management tools like Jira with Zephyr/Xray, TestRail, or HP ALM. - Database Testing : Experience in performing database testing and writing SQL queries for data validation. - Performance Testing (Good to have) : Basic understanding or experience with performance testing tools like JMeter or LoadRunner is a plus. - Mobile Automation (Good to have) : Experience with mobile automation frameworks like Appium is a plus. - Cloud Environments (Good to have) : Familiarity with testing applications deployed on cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or GCP. Qualifications : - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. - 710 years of overall experience in software quality assurance, with a significant focus (at least 5 years) on test automation. - Proven experience in leading and managing automation teams or initiatives. - Strong understanding of QA methodologies, processes, and best practices. - Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and debugging skills. - Exceptional communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills. - Ability to work effectively in an Agile/Scrum environment. - Strong leadership and mentoring abilities. - A passion for quality and a drive to continuously improve testing processes. Bonus Points : - Experience with Behavior-Driven Development (BDD) frameworks like Cucumber or SpecFlow. - ISTQB certification or other relevant QA certifications. - Experience in performance testing and security testing. - Familiarity with service virtualization techniques. - Contributions to open-source automation projects.
