Head of Research

Our partners — a thesis-driven crypto venture fund — are looking for a sharp, structured, and technically grounded Head of Research to lead their protocol research function. This role sits at the intersection of protocol analysis, technical due diligence, and research-driven investing . You’ll help shape investment decisions, sharpen internal theses, and publish work that pushes the space forward. Location : Madrid Employment Type : Full-time What You'll Do Lead deep research into crypto protocols, token design, mechanisms, and primitives Produce internal investment memos and external-facing research publications Join founder calls and evaluate technical architecture and roadmap feasibility Build frameworks and mental models that guide investment thinking Analyze smart contracts, tokenomics, and governance design Stay immersed in whitepapers, GitHub repos, governance forums, and cutting-edge developments Collaborate closely with the team on diligence and idea generation Who You Are Technically fluent — you’ve built, audited, or deeply studied smart contracts and crypto systems Curious — driven by a need to understand things at a systems level Strong communicator — clear in both writing and conversation Crypto-native — fluent in culture, context, and nuance Confident — you can pressure-test assumptions and ask hard questions Independent — you operate well without constant direction Bonus Points Experience working at or investing in early-stage crypto startups Public research (blog posts, GitHub, papers, dashboards) Familiarity with on-chain data analysis (Dune, Nansen, custom tooling) Deep curiosity in specific verticals (ZK, MEV, Crypto x AI, etc.) Traits That Fit This Role Systems thinker — protocol design is architecture, not marketing Grounded and curious — filters hype through structure to find what actually works Self-directed operator — takes initiative, manages time and focus without oversight Insight-driven, not attention-seeking — values clarity and contribution over noise Crypto builder or analyst — someone who sees patterns before they go mainstream Seniority level Director Employment type Full-time Job function Research, Analyst, and Information Technology J-18808-Ljbffr
