Job Description

Underwriting and Operations Manager This role provides day to day management of the Underwriting and Operations department through the effective prioritisation/delegation of the workload and appropriate support and guidance to the team that delivers outstanding customer service. The main objective being to manage the team, mitigate risk, ensure all policies are underwritten correctly and provide auditing and referral support for staff development. In addition, the role provides training and development of all staff in underwriting and operation processes whilst supporting the Schemes & Underwriting Manager with product maintenance and development. Whilst completing the below tasks consideration must be given to ensure that all objectives align effectively with the Companys vision, strategic plan, and current objectives as well as providing support to the Barbon division. To assist and support the team when they have technical queries Responsible for the day-to-day management of the operations team, ensuring that workloads are distributed effectively to assist and enhance the overall customer experience To assist and support with the training of team members and support their learning allowing them to complete training and development plans To support, develop and motivate the staff in achieving agreed targets To understand and communicate results and ensure these are in line with pre agreed targets with the Underwriting and Operations team To direct the departments workload by effective delegation and prioritisation Develop and implement transfers of business in line with company strategy Conduct monthly 121s with all Underwriting and Operation team members to enhance their performance, knowledge, and productivity, understanding and supporting their development needs. To complete underwriting audits To complete risk related reports To maximise every opportunity for improvement through building relationships with insurers, maintaining existing relationships with all insurers and other key industry contacts Review QA data and use feedback to build a high performing compliant team. Offering and delivering solutions to minimise any risk associated with these and improvements to prevent future reoccurrence Increase awareness of market trends and appreciation of our main competitors or potential threat to future new business conversion and retention performance. To assist with learning and development of staff across all departments To manage new and updated protocols and ensure that are followed correctly To understand loss ratio and scheme performance and proactively drive improvements To ensure all underwriting guidance, stances and staff understanding is up to date and in line with insurer requirements To assist with recruitment, training and development of any new staff to the department Effectively deal with and log complaints, competently handle escalated complaints as appropriate following the Companys complaints procedure Ensure that team members are kept up to date with product and procedure changes, and informed of the objective and standards expected by the company HP REF-221 499 ADZN1_UKTJ
