Lead Nuclear Safety Consultant Perm £80,000 - £100,000 Benefits OR Contract Outside IR35 at £80-£90 per hour We are currently seeking experienced Nuclear Safety Engineers to join our growing team and contribute to critical naval infrastructure projects across the UK. Perm Salary range: £80,000 - £100,000 Benefits Hourly rate: £80 £90 Inside / Outside IR35: OUTSIDE IR35 SC needed to start Remote working with occasional visits to Bristol / Plymouth Interview process: MS Teams interview Please note: Candidates must currently hold UK Security Clearance . Job Description: The Nuclear Safety Engineering Lead will work closely with clients to support the development and modification of safety cases for a Nuclear Licensed Site and Naval Dockyard . Responsibilities will include providing technical expertise on nuclear assessment processes and policy, delivering safety documentation, and ensuring outputs are compliant with statutory regulations and client requirements. Key Responsibilities: Support the development and delivery of Nuclear Safety Cases Conduct or review safety assessments and analyses to develop supporting evidence Evaluate technical documentation to confirm regulatory compliance and completeness Provide expert advice to senior stakeholders, regulatory authorities, and cross-functional teams Mentor and coach less experienced engineers on safety engineering best practices, particularly in regulated nuclear environments Qualifications & Experience: Bachelor's degree (minimum) in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical discipline Master's degree or Chartered Engineer (CEng) status preferred Typically 10 years of relevant safety engineering experience in highly regulated industries (e.g., nuclear, maritime, infrastructure, oil & gas) 5 years of direct experience working within Nuclear Licensed Sites Proven experience in authoring or contributing to full lifecycle safety assessments and safety case documentation Familiarity with safety analysis methods such as Deterministic Safety Analysis (DSA) and Probabilistic Safety Analysis (PSA) In-depth understanding of UK nuclear safety regulations and compliance standards Desirable Attributes: Excellent verbal and written communication skills; able to present complex information clearly and confidently Experience in mentoring or technically developing junior engineers Prior involvement with regulatory bodies on safety-critical or high-value engineering projects Services advertised by Gold Group are those of an Agency and/or an Employment Business.
