Responsibilities Lead Data Governance Strategy : Develop and execute the overall data governance and quality strategy, aligned with business needs and global standards. Data Warehouse Architecture & Pipelines: Work closely with data engineering teams to ensure data is structured, optimized, reliable, trusted and understandable: Master Data Management (MDM): Define and implement MDM processes to standardize key domains like customer, vendor, product, and location data across the organization. Data Profiling and Quality : Lead efforts in data profiling to identify quality gaps and design data quality rules to improve data across the organization. Collaborate with Data Engineers: Work closely with data engineers to embed data quality checks and data validation rules directly into the data pipeline to ensure high-quality data is available for analysis and reporting. Data Classification and Access Governance : Implement data classification models and access controls to protect sensitive and critical data assets, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements. Data Lineage and Documentation : Define and maintain data lineage to provide transparency into data flows and transformations across systems and departments. Critical Data Element (CDE) Management : Define and manage CDEs and establish governance processes around them to prioritize data quality. Data Migration Support : Ensure data migrations (e.g., from legacy systems are carried out with full attention to data quality, security, and governance. Governance Tools : Implement and manage data governance tools and platforms (e.g., Purview, OneLake, other) and ensure the integration of these tools within the broader data architecture. Requirements 5 years of experience in data governance, data quality management, or MDM in a data-driven organization. Strong expertise in data warehouse architecture and experience with cloud-based data platforms, particularly Snowflake and Microsoft Azure. Proven experience designing and managing data pipelines in modern cloud environments and ensuring integration of data governance principles (e.g., validation rules, profiling, lineage) into them. Hands-on experience with data migrations, ensuring data integrity, security, and quality during platform transitions (e.g., from on-prem systems to Snowflake/Azure). Deep knowledge of data quality techniques, including data profiling, validation rules, and data remediation processes. Familiarity with data classification, metadata management, and data access governance to secure sensitive data. CDMP (Certified Data Management Professional) or DCAM (Data Management Capability Assessment Model) certification is a bonus Strong collaboration skills — experience working with data engineers, business stakeholders, and data stewards to implement and enforce governance practices. Required: 5 years of experience in data governance, data quality, MDM, or enterprise data management roles. Strong quantitative degree e.g. CompSci, statistics, economics etc, Hands-on experience with cloud-based data platforms like Snowflake & Microsoft Azure. Expertise in data profiling, data migration, and working with data pipelines in cloud environments. CDMP (Certified Data Management Professional) or DCAM (Data Management Capability Assessment Model) qualification. Preferred: Familiarity with data governance tools such as Collibra, Alation, Atlan, or similar platforms – but with a preference for lightweight ‘guerilla’ solutions Experience in data classification models and data lineage tracking in large-scale data environments. Industry experience in sectors like logistics, retail, or manufacturing. Familiarity with agile data governance principles and the ability to iterate and scale governance frameworks within fast-moving environments.
