Environmental Engineer

Job Title: Environmental Engineer Location: Barrow Mill, UK Duration: 3 Months | 37.5 hours/week Rate: £23.30/hour PAYE Job Description: We are seeking an experienced Environmental Engineer to support environmental compliance and continuous improvement at Barrow Mill, Europe’s largest tissue facility. Key Responsibilities: Ensure site-wide environmental compliance with UK/EU legislation and corporate EHS standards. Maintain and enhance ISO 14001-certified Environmental Management Systems. Liaise with regulatory bodies (e.g. Environment Agency) on permits, reporting, and inspections. Provide technical support for wastewater treatment, emissions, waste, and radiation management. Support new project design and environmental risk assessments. Guide the implementation of best practices in effluent plant operations and fresh water use reduction. Oversee duty of care for waste and emissions compliance (air, land, water). Requirements: BSc in Environmental Science (or related) Diploma in Environmental Management. Minimum 5 years' experience in regulated environments (e.g. EA permitted facilities). Proven knowledge of wastewater treatment, radiation/Legionella control, and ISO 14000 systems. Reporting to: Barrow Mill EHS Manager.
