Job Description & Requirements Specialty: First Assist Discipline: RN Start Date: 07/28/2025 Duration: 13 weeks 36 hours per week Shift: 12 hours, days Employment Type: Travel Registered Nurse First Assistant (RNFA) – OR Surgery & Recovery Location: Lakeport, CA | Facility: 5176 Hill Rd E Shift: 4 x 10-hour days (06:45 AM start time) | ⏰ Weekend Rotation: Included About the Role We are seeking an experienced RNFA to provide specialized intraoperative care , assisting surgeons during surgical procedures. As a highly skilled first assistant , you will be responsible for retraction, hemostasis, knot tying, and ensuring optimal surgical outcomes . Key Responsibilities ✔ Assist surgeons intraoperatively under direct supervision. ✔ Provide retraction, hemostasis, and knot tying as part of surgical interventions. ✔ Maintain strict adherence to sterile technique and surgical protocols. ✔ Function solely as the first assistant —not concurrently as a scrub nurse. ✔ Assist in procedures where assistant surgeons are optional or have a limited role . ✔ Ensure patient safety and surgical precision throughout the intervention. Qualifications & Requirements ✅ Licensure & Certifications: Active California RN license required. BLS (AHA) certification required. ACLS (AHA) required. PALS (AHA) required. CNOR certification required. ✅ Experience: Minimum 3 years of OR nursing experience required. Must have experience in both circulator and scrub roles . ✅ Additional Information: Credentialing process: Requires at least 90 days to complete. Weekend rotation included. COVID-19 and Flu vaccine requirements: Status unknown. Work Schedule Shift: 4 x 10-hour days (06:45 AM start) Observed Holidays: New Year's Day Labor Day Independence Day Memorial Day Thanksgiving Christmas Each holiday falls within 7:00 PM the day before - 7:00 AM the day after .
