Job Description

The ER Manager will provide expert legal and compliance support to HR Business Partners, lead all employee relations strategies, and ensure effective engagement with bargaining councils and the CCMA. Key responsibilities include dispute resolution, risk mitigation, policy development, driving the EE and transformation agenda, and maintaining strong stakeholder relationships across the business. Requirements: HR degree or relevant employee relations (ER) qualification. Tertiary qualification in Conflict Resolution or Labour Law advantageous (e.g. MPHIL, LLB, MSSC, etc). Postgraduate qualifications are considered advantageous. 8-10 years relevant ER experience in a unionised manufacturing industry is required. 5 years of experience in strategic leadership. A clear history of successful practical application of relevant employee legislation (LRA, BCEA, EEA, etc.) in a commercial unionised environment. Demonstrated value add within an Employment Equity, Diversity and/or Transformation portfolio. Strong and demonstrated stakeholder management at all levels in the business. Experience in the upholding of company values in employment relations matters Valid South African drivers license Duties and responsibilities: Effective management of the ER strategy and EE plans in line with both legislative requirements and business objectives. This is to be achieved in partnership with HRBPs, line managers and, transformation committees. Work collaboratively with the HRBPs to fully understand the needs of employees and management, performance, transformation, disciplinary, grievance and arbitration issues, and provide best practice ER and EE strategic solutions. Proactively identify, analyse and report potential ER risks to minimise business interruption and promote a harmonious workplace underpinned by the organisation values. Ensure implementation of employment equity and transformation objectives, through a proactive data management, monitoring, reporting, evaluation, stakeholder management, communication and committee servicing. Advising on the handling complaints, managing grievance procedures and facilitating counselling in conjunction with the HRBPs. Responsible for managing the external legal advisory support in partnership with the business legal team. Ensures that managers and HRBPs are trained on all applicable employee relations best practices. Supporting with the investigation of critical industrial relations issues in a timely and effective manner. Collating and analysing employee feedback across all levels on a regular basis and revising people programs and policies to generate more positive outcomes. Provision of advice for HRBPs for effective dispute resolution Advising on negotiations and/or engagements between the organization and employees. Efficient management of all external dispute resolution processes. Keep abreast of employee legislation developments, case law and identify areas for continuous improvement across the organisation.
