SQL Database Administrator - Database Maintenance & Performance Tuning

About the Role : We are seeking a dedicated and experienced SQL Database Administrator to join our team in Navi Mumbai. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the performance, security, and availability of our database servers. You will manage database installations, upgrades, and maintenance, as well as implement and maintain database standards and security protocols. This position requires a strong command of SQL and SQL Server tools, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to provide on-call support. Role Description : As a SQL Database Administrator, you will be a critical part of our IT infrastructure team. You will be responsible for maintaining the integrity and performance of our databases, ensuring data security, and providing timely support to our users. Your expertise in SQL Server, along with your understanding of database technologies and cloud services, will be essential for delivering reliable database solutions. Responsibilities : - Install, configure, and maintain database servers, ensuring optimal performance. - Install, upgrade, and manage database applications. - Set and maintain database standards and best practices. - Develop and implement processes for optimizing database security. - Manage database access and permissions. - Ensure compliance with security policies and procedures. - Perform performance tuning of database systems to ensure efficient operation. - Diagnose and troubleshoot database errors and performance bottlenecks. - Recommend and implement emerging database technologies to enhance performance. - Create and manage database reports, visualizations, and dashboards. - Develop and maintain data models and schemas. - Ensure data integrity and consistency. - Create automation for repeating database tasks using PowerShell and Unix shell scripting. - Develop scripts for database maintenance and monitoring. - Conduct Disaster Recovery (DR) drills to ensure data availability and recoverability. - Configure and manage Log Shipping for DR purposes. - Close all Audit points in the database as and when raised. - Provide on-call support for database issues and incidents. - Diagnose and resolve complex database problems. - Collaborate with other IT teams to resolve issues. - Utilize and manage cloud database services (AWS, Microsoft Azure) as needed. Skills and Qualifications : Technical Skills : - Strong command of SQL and SQL Server tools. - Advanced knowledge of database security, backup and recovery, and performance monitoring standards. - Understanding of relational and dimensional data modeling. - Proficiency in PowerShell and Unix shell scripting. - Familiarity with SSAS, SSIS, and SSRS. - Experience with database technologies (MySQL, MS SQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle, MongoDB). - Experience with cloud services (AWS, Microsoft Azure) is a plus. - Experience with Linux and Windows Server environments.
