Backup Administrator - CommVault

About the Role : We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Backup Administrator to join our dynamic team in Bengaluru. This is a hybrid role requiring a blend of on-site and remote work. The ideal candidate will be a seasoned professional with a deep understanding of enterprise backup and recovery systems, particularly Avamar, and possess a strong background in troubleshooting, system administration, and ITIL processes. You will play a crucial role in ensuring the integrity and availability of our critical data through effective backup and recovery strategies. Responsibilities : - Design, implement, and manage enterprise backup and recovery solutions using Avamar (primary expertise), NetBackup appliances, Commvault, and/or Veeam. - Perform regular backups, restores, and disaster recovery testing to ensure data integrity and availability. - Monitor backup jobs, identify failures, and implement corrective actions. - Manage and maintain Data Domain backup storage appliances. - Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for backup and recovery procedures. - Provide advanced troubleshooting and technical support for backup and recovery issues. - Analyze and resolve complex backup failures and performance issues. - Participate in 7x24 on-call support rotation to ensure timely resolution of critical incidents. - Utilize ITIL processes (Incident Management, Problem Management, Change Management) for efficient issue resolution and service delivery. - Administer and maintain Windows Server 2012 R2 and Linux operating systems. - Manage storage systems, including tape arrays, drives, and library management. - Configure and manage virtualized environments using VMware ESX and Hyper-V. - Manage Windows Clusters. - Ensure proper network connectivity for backup and recovery operations. - Demonstrate a strong understanding of TCP/IP communications, SAN, and FC networks. - Manage SAN Fabrics and Host to SAN connectivity. - Monitor backup system performance and identify areas for improvement. - Optimize backup and recovery processes to ensure efficiency and minimize downtime. - Provide capacity planning for backup infrastructure. - Ensure compliance with data protection policies and regulations. - Implement security best practices for backup and recovery systems. Requirements : - 10 years of experience in enterprise backup and recovery administration. - Expert-level knowledge and hands-on experience with Avamar (L4 level). - Minimum of two additional skills in backup technologies such as NetBackup appliances, Commvault, or Veeam. - Strong troubleshooting skills and experience in resolving complex backup and recovery issues. - Proficiency in Windows Server 2012 R2 and Linux operating systems administration. - Experience with storage systems, including tape arrays, drives, and library management. - Solid understanding of networking concepts, including TCP/IP, SAN, and FC networks. - Experience with virtualization technologies, including VMware ESX and Hyper-V. - Experience with Windows Clusters. - Experience with SAN Fabrics. - Familiarity with ITIL processes. - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. - Ability to participate in a 7x24 on call rotation. - Relevant certifications (e.g., Avamar, NetBackup, Commvault, VMware, Microsoft). - Experience with other data protection technologies. - Experience in scripting and automation. - Expectation of minimum two skills in enterprise backup technologies. - Expectation of Avamar L4 Expertise as primary skill.
