Engineering Manager - Java/Spring Boot

Role Overview : We are looking for a highly skilled Engineering Manager (Backend) with expertise in Java Spring Boot to lead our engineering team. In this role, you will be responsible for managing technical operations, leading and mentoring engineers, and contributing hands-on to the codebase. You will play a key role in designing scalable architectures, optimizing system performance, and ensuring the successful delivery of backend services. Key Responsibilities : Lead and manage the backend engineering team, ensuring technical excellence and alignment with business goals. Architect, design, and develop scalable, high-performance backend systems using Spring Boot and Java. Drive technical decisions, ensuring best practices in system design, microservices architecture, and cloud infrastructure. Manage backend operations, optimizing database performance (MySQL/Postgres), caching, and distributed computing solutions. Contribute hands-on to coding and architecture, building critical backend components while ensuring maintainability and scalability. Mentor and guide engineers, fostering a strong engineering culture through code reviews, technical discussions, and best practice implementation. Collaborate cross-functionally with Product, Frontend, DevOps, and Business teams to drive innovation and efficiency. Ensure system reliability, security, and scalability, implementing monitoring, logging, and performance tuning solutions. Optimize event-driven architectures using Kafka or similar technologies. Lead technical hiring efforts, helping to build and scale a high-performing engineering team. Nice-to-Have Skills : Experience in containerization and orchestration tools like Docker and Kubernetes. Strong knowledge of AWS cloud services for infrastructure management. Experience with NoSQL databases (MongoDB, Redis) and distributed caching solutions. Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps best practices. Minimum Qualifications : 5 years of experience in backend development, system design, and technical leadership. Proven expertise in Java Spring Boot, designing scalable and distributed applications. Strong understanding of microservices architecture, design patterns, and cloud infrastructure. Deep experience with databases (MySQL/Postgres), query optimization, and high-availability systems. Experience in leading engineering teams, mentoring developers, and driving technical projects. Strong problem-solving skills with a passion for building scalable, efficient, and maintainable systems. Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to work in a fast-paced, agile environment. Education : Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
