Application Developer - Mainframe/DB2

Responsibilities : - Leverage your strong Mainframe development skills in COBOL, DB2, and JCL to design, develop, and implement application solutions. - Analyze and understand business requirements to prepare comprehensive technical design documents. - Write efficient, well-documented, and maintainable COBOL code. - Develop and execute JCL scripts for batch processing and system automation. - Design and work with DB2 databases, including writing and optimizing SQL queries. - Conduct thorough unit testing, system testing, and support integration testing efforts. - Effectively debug and resolve application issues. - Provide ongoing application maintenance and support. - Monitor and troubleshoot system performance, proactively identifying and resolving issues (including on-call and performance-related incidents). - Collaborate effectively with infrastructure and support teams to resolve software and hardware issues. - Optionally, utilize your domain knowledge in Property & Casualty Insurance to provide valuable insights. - Actively participate in an Agile work environment, contributing to sprint planning and execution. - Demonstrate strong communication and documentation skills to effectively convey technical you'll bring : - 4-8 years of hands-on experience in Mainframe application development. - Strong proficiency in COBOL programming language. - Extensive experience working with JCL for job control and automation. - Solid expertise in DB2 database, including SQL development and optimization. - Proven ability to understand requirements, create design documents, code, test, and debug mainframe applications. - Experience in monitoring and troubleshooting system performance. - Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. - Good communication and interpersonal skills. - Ability to work effectively in a collaborative Agile team environment (ref:hirist.tech)
