Data Modeler - ER/Studio

Job Description : Data Modeler Company : Mastech Digital Title : Data Modeler Location : 100% Remote About the Role : Mastech Digital is seeking a highly experienced Data Modeler to join our team for a long-term remote engagement. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in data modeling, with a specialized focus on ER Studio. You will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining conceptual, logical, and physical data models to support our business requirements. This role requires a deep understanding of data architecture, database design, and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams. Responsibilities : Data Modeling and Design : - Develop and maintain conceptual, logical, and physical data models using ER Studio. - Design and implement database schemas, tables, and relationships to support application and reporting requirements. - Ensure data models align with business requirements and data governance policies. - Create and maintain data dictionaries and metadata repositories. ER Studio Expertise : - Utilize ER Studio's advanced features, including macros, to automate and streamline data modeling processes. - Apply ER Studio best practices for model creation, validation, and documentation. - Provide guidance and support to other team members on ER Studio usage and data modeling techniques. - Optimize ER Studio usage and workflows. Data Architecture and Integration : - Collaborate with data architects and database administrators to ensure data models support overall data architecture. - Design and implement data integration strategies and patterns. - Ensure data models support data warehousing and business intelligence initiatives. Data Quality and Governance : - Define and enforce data quality standards and rules. - Ensure data models support data governance policies and procedures. - Identify and resolve data quality issues. Collaboration and Communication : - Collaborate with business analysts, developers, and other stakeholders to understand data requirements. - Communicate data modeling concepts and designs to technical and non-technical audiences. - Participate in data modeling reviews and design sessions. - Provide clear and concise documentation of all data models. Problem Solving and Analysis : - Analyze complex data requirements and design effective data models. - Troubleshoot data-related issues and provide solutions. - Identify and implement improvements to data modeling processes and methodologies. Required Skills : Data Modeling : - 5 years of experience in data modeling. - Strong understanding of conceptual, logical, and physical data modeling. - Experience with relational and dimensional data modeling techniques. - Proficiency in SQL and database design principles. ER Studio : - 3 years of hands-on experience using ER Studio. - Expertise in ER Studio's advanced features, including macros. - Strong understanding of ER Studio best practices. Database Knowledge : - Understanding of database management systems (DBMS) such as Oracle, SQL Server, or MySQL. - Knowledge of data warehousing and business intelligence concepts. Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills : - Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. - Ability to analyze complex data requirements and design effective data models. Communication and Collaboration Skills : - Excellent written and verbal communication skills. - Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams. Preferred Skills : - Experience with cloud-based data modeling and database services. - Knowledge of data governance and data quality management. - Experience with data integration tools and technologies. - Familiarity with Agile development methodologies.
