Poultry Breeder Farm Manager

About the role Aus SPF is seeking an experienced layer breeder or meat breeder manager for its SPF operation at Woodend Victoria. This is a Farm Manager position where you will be overseeing the day-to-day operations of the multi age poultry farm site including a small hatchery with a focus on optimising poultry production of quality SPF fertile eggs. Aus SPF has the highest Biosecurity requirements including: Showering onto and off the farm and sheds. All new clothing laundered on site Staff cannot have any avian species (poultry or birds) at home. Biosecurity procedures are of the highest standard EP 5.2.2 and WOAH standards and compliance must be met Audited by DAFF on a yearly basis and by customers every 3 years Key responsibilities Primary responsibility is to achieve maximum productivity of disease free (SPF - specific pathogen free) fertile eggs by ensuring a well-trained workforce focussed on written procedures through a quality management system. Skills & experience · Experienced layer breeder or meat breeder manager essential; some hatchery experience an advantage · Experience working in a quality farming system with detailed flock reporting an advantage · Must be willing to relocate to a company rented house within 20 minutes of Woodend to attend alarm calls · Animal attendant and/or tertiary qualifications advantageous · Ability to cope with the physical demands of the role with attention to detail · Ability to uphold a high standard of animal welfare and care Benefits Company rented house Located in a picturesque rural area (Woodend, Victoria) Well supported by experienced senior management About the company Australian SPF Services is a specialised poultry company producing disease free fertile eggs for primarily vaccine manufacture to be used in the Australian poultry industry, supporting Australia’s biosecurity requirements for the poultry industry and government testing facilities and supplying fertile eggs for human vaccine production.
