The company manages both underground and open cut mines, as well as an on-site processing plant. With a strong local workforce and a long-standing supply relationship with key Tasmanian industries, this business plays a vital role in the state's energy and manufacturing sectors. ROLE We're seeking an experienced Underground Mine Manager to lead a dedicated team in a unique, quality-driven operation. Focused more on consistency and safety than volume, this role offers a refreshing alternative to traditional high-output coal mines. This position is based in north-east Tasmania, Australia. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Lead underground operations to deliver safe, efficient and consistent coal production Provide visible safety leadership and maintain systems that ensure compliance with all SHE regulations Recruit, train and develop team members to improve productivity and performance Oversee underground planning, budgeting and asset management strategies Drive a culture of continuous improvement, flexibility and accountability SKILLS & EXPERIENCE 5 years' experience in bord and pillar coal mining, with prior operational and supervisory exposure Previous statutory appointment as Deputy and Undermanager in an underground coal mine Recognised First Class Mine Manager's Certificate (required) and Ventilation Officer Certificate (required) Strong people leadership skills, including experience with workforce planning and EBA negotiations Practical mine planning experience and demonstrated ability to implement operational strategies
