Job Description

Your role: As a Cargo Operator, you’ll be responsible for the movement and collection of the Army’s vital equipment and supplies, functioning across air, land or sea. Without you, these goods won’t get to where they need to be, and unlike standard desk jobs, you’ll sit in a different driver’s seat every day. Your duties include, but aren’t limited to: Understand how different vehicles and machines run Drive a range of vehicles including rough terrain forklifts and cranes and small landing craft Plan and deliver personnel, stores, equipment and Combat Service Support (CSS) via road, rail, sea and air Receive, process, store and on-forward equipment to support ADF operations and training Manage cargo transport between Army, Navy and Air Force transport at Ports, Air Heads and Rail Terminals Operate and understand computer-based cargo tracking systems You will enjoy benefits including, but not limited to: Free medical and dental, including access to allied health, rehabilitation, and mental health specialists Competitive salary package with incremental salary increases as you gain experience Generous Superannuation of 16.4% - a huge 5.4% over the Australian standard A subsidised home loan or rent allowance Allowances and bonuses which recognise specialist skills and employment types The ability to package your salary Job security Career progression and development Good work/life balance Travel opportunities Excellent social and fitness facilities Paid training Salary: In the Army you'll get paid a good salary from day one regardless of your age, experience or qualifications. Upon commencing training, your starting salary will be approximately $58,528 per annum plus 16.4% superannuation and your pay will increase as you progress through training. On completion of your initial military training and initial employment training, you could earn $83,610 per annum plus generous super. As part of your training in this role, you will also earn qualifications for the operation of certain vehicles. At the time of enlistment, you’ll also need to hold a provisional or full driver’s license.
