Chemist Assistant

Advanced Fiber Products is a world-leader in the pultrusion of composite fiberglass materials. These materials are comprised of two discrete, yet mutually beneficial components, the structural fiberglass, and the chemical resin system.  We focus on Polyester Isophthalic / Terephthalic, Polyurethane, and Epoxy resins, augmenting with a multitude of different additives. We have been locally operated in La Crosse, WI for over 30 years and have proudly grown over 200%! As a chemistry assistant, you will be responsible for all aspects related to the resin systems used in our process.

Responsibilities:

·       Performing trials designed to improve the material properties of profiles we produce.

·       Trouble shooting Resin formulations for better chemical properties affecting profiles

·       Support Continuous Improvement initiatives for the chemical aspects pertaining to production.

·       Maintaining accurate, up-to-date recipes of the >100 different resin formulations.

·       Writing procedures for our resin mixers to convert one resin formulation into another.

·       Working with our resin mixers to ensure resin formulations are being mixed as described.

·       Working with our pultrusion operators to ensure the resins are performing as designed.

·       Performing quality inspections of incoming raw materials.

·       Performing quality inspections of mixed resin formulations.

Requirements:

• 1 or more years of Chemistry Materials Experience (preferred)
• A related degree to this field (preferred)
• 2 year degree (must have)
•  4 year degree (preferred)
• Ability to work in a fast pace environment
• Ability to work hands on (>50% of the time)
• Additional job duties necessary for position function that may exceed the job description

Compensation details: 20-24 Hourly Wage
