Food Scientist – Specialty Ingredients/Colors

 Our client is a rapidly growing manufacturer or natural and organic, specialty ingredients sold worldwide. Based on growth, they are looking to hire a FOOD SCIENTIST/ APPLICATIONS SCIENTIST to join their R&D team based in the Charlotte, NC area, reporting to the Applications Manager.

Together, the Applications Team works with Technical Sales to provide natural ingredients solutions to food and beverage manufacturer's in a variety of application categories such as beverages, confections, dairy products, snacks, bakery, cereal, etc.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provide ingredient match/color recommendations for customer’s food and beverage products.

• Perform trials to model the customer’s formulation and/or process and conducting stability testing.

• Develop and execute demonstration samples that showcase company’s products across a variety of products for customer meetings and tradeshows.

• Design, perform, analyze data demonstrating performance of ingredients and provide technical recommendations to the Sales Team.

• Maintain organized and clean lab space.

• Operate pilot plant equipment.

• May require some travel.

REQUIREMENTS

• Must have degree in food science, chemistry, biology or similar scientific degree

• Must have at least 3+ years of experience in Product Development, preferably Beverage / Ready to Drink Beverages

• Must have some experience and interest in Food Processing Systems

• Must have a strong organizational and communication skills.

• Must be creative, can “think-outside-the-box” yet also be detailed-oriented

• Must be a Problem Solver and open to learn new things

• Must be able to work independently and part of a team

• Prefer candidates that are local or can easily relocate to the Charlotte area from neighboring states.
