Job Description:


The Sociology and Criminology Department at Assumption University invites applications for a one year, with potential renewal for a second year, Visiting Assistant Professor of Criminology to start in Fall 2024.This is a full-time teaching position that will help support our criminology program and share responsibility for the criminology program curriculum with existing faculty. This includes teaching the two introductory courses, Introduction to the Criminal Justice System and Criminology, as well as upper-level electives in the faculty's area of expertise, with preference given to those with experience in or the ability to teach courses in Deviant Behavior and/or Sociology of Law. We are also particularly interested in applicants with qualitative research experience, a background in sociology, and/or those who have overseen criminology or criminal justice student research.



Requirements:


Applicants should have a PhD in Criminology, Criminal Justice, Sociology (with a demonstrated concentration in Criminal Justice and/or Criminology), or closely related academic field. ABD graduate students with prior teaching experience will also be considered. Applicants must be willing to contribute actively to the mission of the University as well as show respect for the Catholic and Assumptionist identity of Assumption University.
