Job Description

The POC/LIS Lab Section Supervisor provides technical oversight for Point of Care testing throughout the URMC Health System (hospital and clinics) to ensure CLIA and CAP compliance. The supervising technologist is responsible for instrument upkeep including performance of daily maintenance, periodic review of all test procedures with appropriate updates in the procedure manuals, all quality control for the section, all quality improvement activities for the section, training of personnel in all techniques of that section and general work flow of that department and communicating knowledge of administrative technical procedures and policies to the individuals working in their designated area. May also be called upon to collect specimens on patients of all ages, from neonates to the elderly.

This position is also responsible for partnering with the Information Systems Department to be the subject-matter expert for the Lab Information System, Meditech. This role will involve working directly with IS and vendors to maintain the laboratory section of the EMR.

Performs all other duties as assigned.

Requirements: Bachelor's Degree in related field, Certification as a Medical Laboratory Technologist (or equivalent certification), and three years clinical experience, preferably in an acute care hospital setting. Prefer more than 3 years experience in an acute care hospital setting.
