Job Description

The Electrical Control Engineer plays a crucial role within the engineering team, contributing expertise to support sales and operations. This position is instrumental in the design and development of equipment, involving the preparation of comprehensive technical documentation aligned with sales proposals, performance requirements, and specifications.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Research and Review: Investigate project requirements and design information to ensure adequacy for completing the design while confirming alignment with the design concept.

  • Control System Design: Develop control systems based on customer specifications, employing a deep understanding of relay or PLC control and writing PLC control logic.

  • Engineering Documentation: Collaborate in the preparation of engineering documents, ensuring accuracy and adherence to corporate standards.

  • Project Collaboration: Communicate effectively with the project team to establish essential functions and deadlines for specific projects.

  • CAD Design: Utilize CADD templates or create designs and drawings by updating existing CAD files, ensuring alignment with client requirements and corporate standards.

  • Quality Assurance: Analyze reports, drawings, and tests to plan and design projects, completing the design process with necessary corrections following a quality review.

  • Proposal Support: Assist the sales team in preparing scope and estimates for proposals, leveraging technical expertise.

  • Procurement Oversight: Perform inspection and surveillance duties associated with outsourced electrical procurement.

  • Startup Assistance: Support equipment startup at customer sites as required.

  • Continuous Improvement: Actively contribute to process improvements and share insights within a collaborative team environment.

Education and Experience:

  • Education: BS degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited program.

  • Experience: 2+ years of experience in designing control systems.

  • AutoCAD Proficiency: Possess experience with AutoCAD for effective design implementation.

  • Control Panel Design: Demonstrate expertise in designing control panels based on relay or PLC control.

  • PLC Logic: Exhibit proficiency in writing PLC control logic.

  • Regulatory Knowledge: Be familiar with related codes and standards, including IEC, NEC, and NFPA.

  • Technical Writing: Demonstrate proficiency in technical writing to convey complex information effectively.

  • Team Collaboration: Ability to work collaboratively within a creative, professional team environment.

  • Process Control Knowledge: Knowledge of plant process control and monitoring is a plus.
