The Fund and Donor Relations Officer is responsible for providing ongoing cultivation and stewardship of donor funds. This person will work closely with a variety of FNIH and NIH program staff to articulate the case for the solicitation of unrestricted and restricted support, as well as stewardship of all FNIH donors.

The Fund and Donor Relations Officer will secure support for the FNIH by managing a group of assigned donors, as well as by identifying new prospects. Thoughtful and comprehensive stewardship will ensure upgrades in donor giving and involvement.

This position reports to the Director of Gift Planning.

Primary responsibilities include:

Donor Stewardship

  • Manage and steward an existing portfolio of donor funds managed by the FNIH, developing and maintaining an in-depth knowledge and understanding of each fund’s priorities and building effective working relationships with partner representatives.
  • Create and implement a plan for each donor with execution in a timely manner to ensure ongoing and upgraded engagement.
  • Perform other major donor activities, as requested.
  • In partnership with department leadership, contribute to the development and execution of strategies to grow donor pipeline and foster a culture of philanthropy at the FNIH.

Budget and Reporting

  • Work closely with the Finance and Legal departments to ensure fund requirements are met.
  • Team Collaboration
  • Prepare monthly reports for internal tracking purposes, in addition to quarterly reports for donors.
  • Ensure donor engagement tracking and related activities are maintained.

Collaboration and Team Engagement

  • Participate as a a vibrant member of the Strategic Alliances and Advancement team by collaborating and participating in prospect and departmental meetings, offering creativity and original thought grounded in best practices.
  • Engage with the Meetings and Events department to set up fund lectures and awards/prizes.
  • Participate in, and assist with planning of, the annual FNIH Awards Ceremony
  • Work with appropriate FNIH staff to collect information and prepare proposals for solicitations.


POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Five to seven years’ experience in donor relations and cultivation.
  • Ability to understand the needs and interests of major gift prospects and donors.
  • Focused and motivated self-starter, able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Great attention to detail, deadlines, and the ability to review their own work for accuracy.
  • Ability to speak clearly, write persuasively, listen attentively, and distill highly technical information into simplified, compelling requests.
  • Collaborative and interested in meeting with and learning about others.
  • Demonstrate leadership qualities and be an effective team player.
