Responsibilities

Keith L. Shoji & Associates, insurance staff counsel for State Farm Insurance Companies, seeks a trial attorney with civil litigation and preferably trial experience to join our Riverside, CA office. Candidates must have exceptional knowledge of civil procedure, evidence and trial strategy with outstanding written and oral advocacy skills. Competitive candidates will be well-organized, detail-oriented, and able to independently manage a caseload where all work is time-sensitive. Located in Riverside, CA, we enjoy an active, busy civil trial practice. We provide a congenial, team-oriented professional work environment with skilled support staff. The position is classified as a hybrid role, meaning that the work arrangement calls for hours in the office and virtually. Everyone in a hybrid role is required to spend some time in the office. Work arrangements could change over time based on business needs.

*PLEASE NOTE: The office is currently located in Riverside, CA. It is expected that the office will be relocated to Ontario, CA later this year. Same hybrid model would apply.



Qualifications

  • 0+ years of experiece
  • Active license to practice law in California and a member in good standing of the California Bar
  • Civil litigation experience/jury trial experience preferred, preferably in insurance defense practice
  • Experience working in a paperless environment
  • Strong automation/technical skills for law suit handling and courtroom presentation
  • Strong software skills including competency in Word, Outlook, and Westlaw
  • Knowledge of local and state discovery rules, trial procedures, and applicable substantive law commensurate with level of experience
  • Experience presenting and cross-examining lay and expert witnesses is preferred
  • Applicants are required to be eligible to lawfully work in the U.S. immediately; employer will not sponsor applicants for U.S. work opportunity.
  • Potential salary range: $110,550-$180,000
  • Potential yearly incentive pay up to 16% of base salary (results may vary from year to year)
