Job Description

The Purchasing Manager leads the Purchasing Operations team, overseeing purchase operations and developing purchasing systems to enhance customer service, process efficiency, and financial goals alignment with VCA. Reporting to the VP of Product Management and Marketing, this role plays a crucial part in driving best-in-class purchasing processes and capabilities. The ideal candidate will possess expertise in Procure to Pay (P2P) processes, along with proven leadership experience and excellent communication skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and mentor the Purchasing Operations team to ensure efficient day-to-day activities management.
  • Conduct annual performance reviews for Purchasing Associates, fostering their professional development.
  • Collaborate with the sourcing team to integrate product purchases into VCA ERP systems and processes.
  • Manage inventory items, ensuring OTIF metrics and customer satisfaction goals are met.
  • Coordinate with the planning team for customer one-time purchases and annual events.
  • Negotiate terms and conditions with suppliers to maximize customer value.
  • Analyze inventory issues and execute resolutions using system reports.
  • Maintain supplier quality credentials in the VCA system of record.
  • Collaborate with warehouse operations and AP to resolve receiving and invoice discrepancies.
  • Participate in annual supplier reviews and contribute innovative ideas to support company values.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in supply chain, purchasing, or procurement.
  • 5-7 years of purchasing/buying experience,
  • 3+ years of proven leadership responsibilities.
  • Less than 10% with limited travel to supplier locations.
  • Monday through Friday, 7:30am – 4:00pm CST, with the ability to work from home 8 hours per week.
