Job Overview

The Supervisor’s responsibilities include overseeing the Routing Coordinators to promptly release all orders to the floor. Manages aging & troubleshooting of active shipments. The supervisor will ensure compliance with safety, accuracy, and personnel policies.

Roles And Responsibilities

Manage and direct Distribution Center operations.

  • Communicate department goals to personnel and provide resources and motivation to meet or exceed objectives.
  • Communicate issues to the Distribution Manager to ensure seamless operation and transfer of information.
  • Interact with management and cross-functional employees to resolve issues affecting operations.
  • Interact with Planning/Sales, Traffic, Order Management, Customer Service, Accounting, Production, and other departments and pass valuable information along to department and key personnel.
  • Help identify, initiate, and implement continual process improvement activities to optimize efficiency and reduce cost.
  • Understand WIP flow and controls through each operational area to help with daily and monthly planning to meet targeted goals.
  • Leverage SAP/EWM and report to keep channels within designated service windows to prevent aged deliveries.
  • Understanding capacity and driving product flow through each area of the operation.
  • Be the first line (go-to resource) of help for any questions involving SAP/EWM that may arise throughout the CC.
  • Understand the chargeback impact for each strategic customer account.
  • Respond to any routing questions that may arise.
  • Function as the communication bridge between the floor operations and the Command Center.
  • Ensuring orders are ready for critical accounts at the start of ship windows.
  • Must manage several priorities effectively and identify and recommend the best course of action from several alternatives.


Develop Personnel Skills And Capabilities

  • Review and assess each employee’s skill set related to the job requirements.
  • Conducts timely performance reviews and assists in managing individual development plans.
  • Administer disciplinary action as needed.
  • Mentors and coaches Lead staff in supervising and directing employees.
  • Track employee attendance and approve timesheets according to Company's policy.


Drive Continuous Improvement

  • Use lean and six sigma techniques to drive year-over-year cost, service, and quality improvements.
  • Assist the Distribution Manager and Sr. Industrial Engineer to develop a culture of continuous improvement in staff and team.
  • Work with team leads, material handlers, and other site and active personnel to achieve continuous improvement objectives.
  • Coordinates and oversees the planning of improvements in materials processes. Takes a leading role in evaluating the results and communicates the results to relevant personnel.


TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities)

  • Demonstrated diligence.
  • Must be meticulous and able to fulfill responsibilities with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work independently and use sound judgment in decision-making.
  • Strong analytical skills, including using and applying Six Sigma problem-solving.
  • Demonstrated strong people skills.
  • Ability to direct others within the process to meet or exceed department goals.
  • Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Fully fluent in conversational and business (oral and written) English and Spanish
  • Skilled in managing multiple projects and responsibilities in a fast-paced, changing environment.
  • Possess skills to develop and implement new procedures and policies to simplify and improve operations.
  • Knowledge of computers and proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and SAP experience helpful.
  • Has experience using computer-based warehouse management system (WMS), use of SAP WMS a plus.


Education And Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in a field relevant to the job description (e.g., Operations, Materials Management, Industrial Engineering) or equivalent job experience.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of Warehouse experience in a supervisor role.
  • Computer experience required / Excel / Word experience preferred.
  • SAP/WMS experience helpful
