Senior Mechanical Design Engineer – Leicester Location: Leicester Position: Permanent | Full-Time We are working with an established and innovative engineering business that designs and develops cutting-edge technology solutions for a range of industries including aerospace, defence, medical, automotive, energy, and beyond. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join a forward-thinking R&D team, playing a key role in the design, validation, and delivery of advanced systems. The Role As a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer, you will: Lead the design and validation of mechanical subassemblies from concept to production. Define mechanical performance specifications from system requirements. Oversee design reviews, supporting manufacturing, assembly, and service introduction. Provide guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and contractors. Work closely with cross-functional teams including operations and business development. What You’ll Bring Degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent) with 5 years’ experience in end-to-end product design. Strong track record in product design and small mechanisms . Knowledge of drives, controls, materials, and manufacturing processes . Proficiency in Solidworks/CAD and MS Office. Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and practical engineering skills.
