Engineering Director – Heavy Industrial Manufacturing Location: Hereford Salary: Attractive salary package Bonus: Quarterly performance scheme About the Opportunity Elevation Recruitment Group is partnering with a leading heavy industrial and metals manufacturing operation to recruit an Engineering Director for their major UK production facility. This is a senior leadership role offering complete accountability for the engineering function. You'll establish and deliver a robust engineering strategy that ensures the plant consistently achieves its safety, quality, throughput and cost objectives. The Role As Engineering Director, you will: Drive the engineering strategy across all aspects of plant operations, including staffing, equipment, budgets, facilities and capabilities Lead cultural transformation within the engineering function to align with plant objectives and drive daily, weekly and monthly performance Ensure the safety of your engineering team and all contractors on site, with full accountability for EHS compliance Achieve and maintain agreed levels of overall plant availability and performance (OEE) Collaborate with senior leadership to develop and deliver a Capital Expenditure Plan that meets strategic requirements on time and within budget Establish and monitor Key Performance Indicators to track engineering function efficiency and effectiveness Deliver measurable improvements in team performance and capability Manage planned and predictive maintenance schedules alongside condition monitoring to maximise machine availability and minimise costs Reduce demarcation between engineering and operations across all trades and resource types Manage consignment spares to optimise risk and cost Who You Are Essential Requirements: Degree-level education or equivalent in an engineering-related discipline 10 years' experience in metal production, oil & gas, chemical engineering, or comparable heavy/capital-intensive industries 10 years' experience managing and developing teams Proven full functional responsibility for engineering within a relevant business Full budgetary responsibility experience (£4m–£8m range) Demonstrable experience managing large capital projects HSE qualification (NEBOSH/IOSH or equivalent) Strong practical engineering understanding with genuine empathy for operational teams Proven track record of delivering creative improvements to performance and operational methods IT literacy with ability to generate own reports and correspondence Desirable: Knowledge of the metals production industry sector Benefits Attractive salary package Quarterly performance bonus scheme Car allowance Relocation allowance Excellent contributory company pension BUPA healthcare cover Life assurance (4x salary) Cycle to Work Scheme Free eye tests and prescription safety glasses Free onsite parking Training and development opportunities About Us Elevation Recruitment Group specialises in placing exceptional leadership talent within the manufacturing and engineering sectors across Yorkshire and beyond.
