Engineering Supervisor (Building Services / Utilities) Are you an experienced engineering professional ready to take the next step in your career? Our long standing pharmaceutical manufacturing client are looking for an Engineering Supervisor to lead a skilled team maintaining critical building and utility systems across a state-of-the-art pharmaceutical research and manufacturing facility in Hertfordshire. About the Role: Reporting to the Engineering Manager, you’ll be responsible for the reliable and compliant operation of all site-wide Building and Utility Services . This includes managing maintenance, repair, and improvement activities for a range of mechanical and electrical systems, while ensuring adherence to GMP, H&S, and regulatory standards . This is a hands-on leadership role where you’ll coordinate a team of engineers, manage contractors, and drive continuous improvement in performance, energy efficiency, and compliance. Key Responsibilities: Supervise and coordinate the site utilities engineering team. Ensure all maintenance work complies with regulatory and safety standards. Conduct inspections, audits, and performance reviews of site equipment. Oversee contractors and external service providers. Support project work, shutdowns, and installation activities. Lead and develop team members through training and coaching. Drive continuous improvement and energy-saving initiatives. Participate in the on-call rota (1 in 6) for essential site operations. About You: You’ll bring a strong background in mechanical and/or electrical engineering, ideally within a pharmaceutical or GMP-regulated environment , with proven experience leading technical teams. Essential: ONC/HNC or equivalent qualification in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering. Experience supervising engineers or technicians. Strong understanding of building services, utilities, and maintenance systems. Excellent communication and leadership skills. Ability to interpret technical drawings and manage CMMS systems (e.g. Maximo). Flexible approach – occasional work outside standard hours required. Desirable: Experience managing budgets and service contracts. Knowledge of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies. Full UK driving license.
