Position Summary

The Regional Account Manager will develop commercial relationships with hospital based health-care professionals, opinion leaders and decision makers in order to maximise access to Kanuma® within key accounts/hospitals identified in the region.

Incumbent will professionally represent Alexion in the field and ensure high levels of visibility and customer satisfaction in territory. Incumbent will implement the Alexion disease and diagnostic education awareness programs and maintain effective communication and relationships with key external and internal stakeholders.

This position is non-promocional for Asphotase alfa. After MA approval of AA has been granted, this job description will be supplemented with a further job description, which expands the role into commercial and sales activities and will set forth additional responsibilities.

 

Principal Responsibilities

  • Implements educational and disease awareness plans in accordance with written guidelines and processes, using approved educational resources and tools
  • Works closely with Medical Affairs team to ensure appropriate communication of medical and scientific information and response to requests for information from Healthcare Professionals in compliance with written guidelines and processes
  • Develops and maintains strong in-depth clinical, technical and scientific knowledge
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully identify key treatment centers, mapping of centers of expertise and medical experts in the area
  • Demonstrates the ability to educate on the diagnostic approach to the disease leading to a successful differential diagnosis and appropriate testing of patient populations
  • Appropriately utilizes all approved disease awareness educational tools and resources including power point presentations
  • Execution of local educational and disease awareness activities and programs for therapeutics areas
  • Provides a high level of disease awareness expertise
  • Tracks activities and submits reports on disease awareness educational activities accurately & on-time
  • Effective administrator who efficiently manages time, educational tools and resources and workload
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills and organizational abilities

 

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years Biotechnology/Pharmaceutical experience
  • Strong preference for one or more of following sales experience:
    • in the endocrinology, gastro pediatrician, specialties and/or experience interacting to physicians specialized in treating rare disorders
    • with enzyme replacement therapy products
    • in the orphan or ultra-orphan area
  • Ability to work effectively independently and in an interdependent, team-oriented environment on a consistent basis
  • Experience in launching a biopharmaceutical in the past 3-5 years preferred
  • Knowledge and understanding of country pharmaceutical regulations. High sense of ethics and compliance behavior.
  • Ability to gain consistent access & develop strong, professional relationships for scientific exchange with healthcare providers in community and academic centers
  • Ability to travel within territory on a regular basis which will include frequent overnight and weekend travel
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving

 

Education

  • Degree in life science and/or business/marketing
  • Advanced or Master’s degree ideal
